Karoo Horse Trails

Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve’s newly introduced Karoo Horse Trails and Horseback Outrides are the ultimate outdoor adventure for both locals and travellers looking to add a unique and exciting addition to their Cape Town itineraries. Ranger Dan will be guiding the Summer Horse Trails for 2024.

Please Note: Maximum weight per person: 95Kgs. Minimum age requirement: 16 years and older. Inverdoorn maintains a strict one person per horse policy, with no exceptions.

Private Picnic Trail

Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve’s newly introduced Private Karoo Picnic and Two Hour Horse Trail offers guests a romantic and exclusive experience in the heart of our 10 000 hectare wildlife reserve. Combining a horseback adventure through the breathtaking Karoo landscapes with a gourmet picnic spread of local cheeses, South African jams, homemade breads, artisanal cold cuts, fresh fruit, and more, this activity is sure to delight your taste for adventure.

Cheetah Educational Tour

Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve’s renowned cheetah cheetah rehabilitation project is at the core of the reserve’s ongoing wildlife conservation initiatives. Guests are invited to participate in our Cheetah Educational Tour, where you can learn more about these amazing big cats and receive an up-close and in-depth guided tour of the Cheetah Rescue Programme.

Inverdoorn’s Karoo Picnic offers overnight safari guests an exclusive and romantic experience in the heart of our 10 000 hectare wildlife reserve. Your safari picnic includes a basket filled with delicious eats, condiments, fresh breads, cheeses, sweet treats, and other local picnic favourites.

This gourmet Karoo picnic spread is ready for two to share at a remote lookout point where you’ll have picturesque 360° views of the wild Karoo plains.

Karoo High Tea

Inverdoorn’s Karoo High Tea is set amidst the natural tranquility of Karoo. Adding to the experience is a guided walk through our succulent cactus garden, and a tasteful and scenic tour in the remote Tankwa Karoo wilderness. The high tea experience includes a glass of sparking wine upon arrival, complimented with a selection of Carmien Teas, savoury bites, and delectable treats.

Karoo Birdwatching Safari

The Great Karoo, the vast and untamed interior of Southern Africa, is home to over 165 native bird species. Led by an experienced game ranger, this private bird watching game drive offers guests the opportunity to sight rare and regional birds in the Western Cape.

From Greater Flamingos and Cape Eagle-Owls, to Pale Chanting Goshawks and Verreaux’s (Black) Eagles, book Inverdoorn’s birdwatching safari for an exclusive birding expedition into the heart of our Karoo game reserve.

Karoo Stargazing Experience

Inverdoorn Game Reserve now offers a unique star-gazing experience. Each evening (weather conditions permitting) after dinner, overnight safari guests are invited to join our skilled game rangers as they journey through veld, gazing at the incredible stars and vivid constellations that fill the wild and remote Karoo night skies.

Please Note: The Karoo Stargazing experience is dependent on the weather, cloud conditions, and time. Overnight safari guests will only be notified on the day of the activity regarding the availability, time and location of our Stargazing Experience.

Cheetah Run Experience

As part of Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve’s new cheetah rehabilitation process, our rehabilitated cheetahs have to ‘run for their supper’ by chasing a lure down a runway— reaching speeds of up to 120kmph. At the end point, they are rewarded with food. Overnight Safari Guests are invited to observe this incredible scene from an elevated vantage point during the morning game drive (Summer) or afternoon game drive (Winter).
