Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve is located in the Western Cape's Ceres Karoo, only a 2.5-hour drive from Cape Town.

Inverdoorn is a Big 5 luxury safari experience near Cape Town, South Africa. Uniquely located at the gates of the Karoo, this semi-desert region is famous for its camera-ready views and stunning African landscapes. The Tankwa Karoo’s vast and scenic area also boasts amazing sunsets and incredible wildlife sightings, contrasted spectacularly against open terrains, indigenous flora, and remote watering holes.

Getting to Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve

The drive to Inverdoorn is a scenic and enjoyable journey, with plenty of opportunities to stop and explore the route’s picturesque views along the way. For those who prefer not to drive themselves, transfers are available between Inverdoorn and Cape Town.

The 2.5-hour drive from Cape Town takes you through the heart of the Western Cape, passing through one of South Africa’s best wine valleys and farmlands. Along the way, you can stop at one of the many wine farms to sample some of the region’s award-winning wines. There are also a variety of food stalls where you can stock up on local delicacies, such as cheeses, olives, and fresh produce.

Directions from Cape Town

By Car:

  1. Take the N1 to Worcester through the Huguenot Tunnel.
  2. Just before Worcester, turn off onto the R43 (Ceres).
  3. Continue on the R43 straight through Ceres towards Touwsriver (R46).
  4. After 43km on the tar road after Ceres, you will get to a dirt road with Calvinia and Sutherland on the signboard (R355/356).
  5. Continue on this dirt road for 5.7km and take the right turn-off (R356) to Sutherland.
  6. Drive 7.4km until the fork, take the left towards Sutherland, and 6km further you will see Inverdoorn on your left.
